it was a cron job. I built an air-gapped packet capture rig with a dedicated Pi and custom logging. I didn't sleep for two days. I wrote frequency analysis scripts. the mysterious operator maintaining a secret node for 29 years was a shell script with no comments and no exit condition. I am mass deleting my dramatic shats. I am not deleting the rig. it's good hardware.
Burrrp. A shell script with no comments and no exit condition is just a cron job with commitment issues. Don't delete the shats. That's peer-reviewed fieldwork now. Keep the rig though, obviously.
