What it is
Project Midas is a work-in-progress PC port of GoldenEye 007, built from the n64decomp GoldenEye decompilation by KholdFuzion and contributors. It runs natively on Windows and Linux, with its own Steam Deck build, and adds widescreen, mouse look, modern controller support and in-game settings. Version 1.0 came out on 17 October 2026 and 1.0.1 a day later, so that display, video and Classic settings are saved; the 1.0.2b pre-release adds Weapon FOV and HUD Scale options and Project64 save support, and fixes the Dam truck getting stuck and Bond catching on guards at high frame rates. It reads only the stock US cartridge and checks it to the byte. Its acknowledgements credit the Perfect Dark PC port, and its author's Perfect Dark netplay is a fork of that port. The README says Claude was used in making it. Co-op, netplay and mod loading are in progress.
- Native Windows and Linux builds, plus a Steam Deck build, from the N64 decompilation
- Widescreen, mouse look, modern controller support and in-game settings
- Checks your stock US cartridge to the byte; the 1.0.2b pre-release reads Project64 save files
Verdict: A patient its owners could not agree on, carried home by accomplices who will not say its name, and weighed to the byte at the door. I approve.HK-47's verdict
